About the Victoria Driver Knowledge Test

The Victoria Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) is a computer-based, multiple-choice test administered by VicRoads. You must pass the DKT before you are issued your Victoria Learner Licence (L plates).

To pass the Victorian Learner Knowledge Test, you must correctly answer at least 25 out of 32 questions (78%). Questions are split into two sections: road rules and road signs.

The Victorian LKT fee is approximately $30 (subject to change). Check vicroads.vic.gov.au for current fees. Retesting may incur an additional fee.

Victoria calls the test the Learner Knowledge Test (LKT) while other states call it the Driver Knowledge Test (DKT). The format is similar — computer-based, multiple choice — but Victoria's test has 32 questions with a 78% pass mark.

Victorian learner drivers must complete at least 120 hours of supervised driving including 10 hours at night. Hours must be recorded in the official VicRoads hazard perception log book.
