South Australia DKT – Frequently Asked Questions

To get your South Australia learner licence: 1) Be at least 16 years old. 2) Pass the Driver Knowledge Test at a Service SA centre. 3) Pass a vision test. 4) Provide acceptable ID. 5) Pay the licence fee. You must hold your learner licence for at least 12 months.

To pass the SA Driver Knowledge Test, you must correctly answer at least 24 out of 30 questions (80%). The test covers road rules, road signs, and safe driving.

SA learner drivers aged under 25 must complete 75 hours of supervised driving, including 15 hours at night. Drivers aged 25 or over have no minimum logbook hour requirement.

Learner and provisional P1/P2 drivers in South Australia must maintain a blood alcohol concentration of 0.00%. Fully licensed drivers must remain under 0.05% BAC.
